Guardianship Services, Inc.
2025 Texas Elder Justice Coalition Summit
Because no one should face aging or disability alone, Guardianship Services, Inc. (GSI) strengthens the safety net with services that prevent and address abuse, neglect, and exploitation of aging and other vulnerable Tarrant County adults. Its mission: to provide guardianship, supports and services for Tarrant County’s at-risk adults.
2023-2024 Texas Bar Foundation Chair Geffrey W. Anderson
The Texas Bar Foundation awarded a $12,000 grant to Guardianship Services to support the 2025 Texas Elder Justice Coalition Summit. This grant supported a multidisciplinary gathering of elder justice advocates fighting financial exploitation of older Texans. Adult Protective Services (APS) plays a critical role in safeguarding vulnerable adults across the state, but its mandate does not extend to investigating fraud or financial exploitation by strangers—perpetrators without a personal relationship with the victim. To bridge that gap, organizations like Guardianship Services, Inc. (GSI) work alongside APS, local law enforcement, legal professionals, and courts to address elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation and help victims.
2025 Texas Elder Justice Coalition Summit Attendees
The Texas Elder Justice Coalition and its Summit are designed to provide a framework and forum for multidisciplinary collaborations statewide, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and resources across jurisdictions. By uniting diverse stakeholders, the Summit strengthens elder justice advocacy across Texas, empowering communities to address the complexities of preventing and prosecuting financial abuse and exploitation.
“The Texas Bar Foundation’s support was instrumental to the Summit’s success and underscored the urgency of our shared mission to protect vulnerable Texans. Together, we convened elder justice advocates from across the state—including professionals from Adult Protective Services, law enforcement, the legal field, social services, financial institutions, higher education, and other sectors. Participants shared valuable insights on current financial exploitation trends, new tools to combat abuse, and the persistent challenges of prevention and prosecution. The response to the Summit has been overwhelmingly positive—and we’ve already begun planning for next year.”
